The Greatest Gift

Dusty Roads to the Heart

In the spirit of the season, I felt I should share this gem written by my very own mother-in-love.  Last year, she found her voice...through blogging...and it's a beautiful one.

 Happy Holidays!

25 Days of Christmas Tags + Precious Remembrance Shop

11.22.2015

  photo badge2_zps939d8db9.jpg

Precious Remembrance Shop is joining up with Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags event today!  If you aren't familiar with this yearly event, you can find all the details HERE!  Comment and play along for your chance to win!

I created a tag using Precious Remembrance Shop's beautiful Sketchy Christmas set & Brushed Silver cardstock (StampinUp!).  I love this particular cardstock during the winter season!

Stamps:  Precious Remembrance Shop (Sketchy Christmas)
I stamped and fussy cut the tree and then popped it up with foam dots on the die cut tag.  The sentiment was stamped directly on the tag using black ink.  I added two colors/sizes of sequins for a little pop of color & sparkle.  I don't tend to use much ribbon on cards these days (bows are just "knot" my forte), but found some in my stash that was grey to go along with my color scheme!

I hope you'll go check out all the gorgeous tags being shared during Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags event!  There are so many fabulous ideas!!!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Don't you just love the font on the sentiment?!  I masked the snowy, rolling hill on kraft cardstock and then added the tree.  A simple gold star sequin adorns the top of the tree.  So simple!

Prickley Pear Glittered Tutorial

1.19.2015

Happy Monday a little late!  I wanted to share a card I made for a fun tutorial over on the Prickley Pear blog!  It uses glitter and a dryer sheet for some awesome sparkle!  Take a look at this!

I apologize for the silence here on the blog!  I have a lot on my plate right now, but hope by next week, things will be a bit calmer around here!

Until next time, happy stamping!

Prickley Pear Monday Inspiration

12.22.2014

It's time for some more Prickley Pear holiday inspiration!

Stamps:  Prickley Pear (Patridge & Snowflake Tree, Victorian Ornaments clear set - sentiment)
I've been loving a black and white color scheme for cards lately.  Perhaps because I'm trying to keep things as simple as possible in all aspects of life right now?!

Life is full here in my household.  Between house projects, the beginning of winter break and travel plans to be made and implemented, time really does seem to be getting away from me.  I hope you can pardon my silence for a bit longer here on the blog!  First things first!

I hope you've had a marvelous Monday!

Happy Monday!  It's time for some more Prickley Pear inspiration!

I decided to try a one layer holiday card.  This image made it so easy!  I used my Spica Copic markers on everything in the main image to give it some festive sparkle.

Don't forget that today is the last day of the holiday sale over in the store!  Now is the time to get those images you need to update your current stash!  A brand new year is coming and, with it, a year's worth of holidays!  You'll find beautiful stamps in the store to celebrate each one!

Have a marvelous Monday!

A Prickley Pear Monday Mouse

12.08.2014

Happy Monday! I hope you had a pleasant weekend!  Mine was decent, but I must admit, I've had better.  Must be the lack of sleep and intense days last week filled with a sick child and a teething child!  Poor DD has lower molars getting ready to erupt and when I look in her mouth right now, I see two big bulges under her gums.  I can see why she is Little Miss Cling Wrap.  DS2 is thankfully feeling much better and can return to school!  Whew!

 PPRS Blog

Today, I'm sharing a Prickley Pear creation which uses one of their cute stamps in the store.

Stamps:  Prickley Pear (Buster, Holly & Berries (hat), Twas the Night Before Christmas)

Buster is a little mouse who chooses to be a rebel on Christmas Eve (see here).  He's very much awake and roaming, stylish hat and all!  He borrowed the paper pieced hat from the cat while the feline was sleeping (see the Holly & Berries clear set).  The little dotted trail is paper pierced and then filled in with a touch of sparkle using a Wink of Stella brush marker.  Coloring was done with Copics.  Sparkle on the hat was created using clear Stickles.

Don't forget the fantastic sale going on right now in the store!

Now it's on into the new week!  After today and tomorrow, I'm hoping the rest of the week will be fairly calm.  First up, a child who needs a tooth pulled due to space issues and a school holiday concert.

Have a marvelous Monday!

Prickley Pear Pine Cone Inspiration

11.24.2014

It's Monday!  No groaning allowed.  It's time for a fresh start and, for some of us, growing anticipation for Thursday's holiday!

PPRS Blog

Today, I'm sharing another clean & simple Prickley Pear holiday creation with you.

I used a pretty, framed main image called Pinecone ATC, a red rubber stamp, to frame the holiday sentiment (Fill Your Home).  I added a little snowy sparkle to the pine cones using my clear Wink of Stella Brush marker (love that thing!).  The main panel was then popped up over a 1-inch strip of coordinating cardstock.

The weekend went by so quickly!  DH spent most of Saturday cutting underlayment for the craft room floor.  Tile is next!  Here's a little sneak peek before the underlayment was put down...

Little by little it's coming together.  Feels like there is still a lot to do, but I've actually been stamping in that half finished room!  I figure the lack of a finished floor, woodwork or doors doesn't affect the quality of one's stamping.  *wink*

Have a marvelous Monday!

Precious Remembrance Holiday Inspiration

11.18.2014

Today I'm sharing some holiday inspiration over on the Precious Remembrance blog using the latest new release set, Joy!  Be sure and go take a look!

I made a second card to share here...

This card uses the same stamp set, but different images.  I punched two tiny holes on the wreath so I could thread some gold cord through and tie a bow.  The berries on the wreath were embellished with red Stickles.  I also applied a thin layer of shimmer spray to both the card base and the main stitched panel.

There are so many things you can do with this set!  I've been envisioning Project Life cards.  This set would make it so easy to create some quick card inserts for albums!

Joy Stamp Set

Life is full of energy here on the home front this week.  Plenty to do, so please excuse the brief, to-the-point posts for now!

Have a wonderful day!

Prickley Pear Holly & Berries

11.17.2014

 PPRS Blog

It's Monday and that means it's time for more Prickley Pear inspiration!

I thought I'd make a holiday card using some non-traditional colors.

I used the pretty Holly & Berries Clear Set along with the coordinating dies.  To create the blue background, I used a foam brush and ink from a blue reinker.  The ink was mixed with a little water and then brushed across a piece of watercolor paper.  I then die cut and stamped the holly leaves & berries, popping them up with foam dots.  The red gemstones were added as embellishments.  I added the Tis the Season sentiment stamp to finish the design.

The weekend pretty much flew by, but that's nothing new!  I helped DH clean up the basement a bit.  We ended up mopping some of the floor in the construction area.  Drywall dust sticks around forever, just so you know.  The mopping really helped!  We had to stop when the community well that we share with some of our neighbors needed repaired.  We spent the afternoon and evening with no water.  Thankfully, we were given a little forewarning and filled some buckets with water to get us by!  The lack of water kind of put a damper on our original home project plans for the weekend, but such is life sometimes!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Friday Tree Muse

11.14.2014

Needing some craft time today, I played along with the challenge over at Muse Card Club.  I love a good CAS card and Therese Calvird's card caught my eye!  Sadly, she will be leaving the Muse team by the end of the month.

Here is my take on her card:

Stamps:  Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps (Christmas Trees Clear Set, Christmas Goodwill)

I loved the simple layout of her card and the festive gemstones.  I did fussy cut the tree on my version to add a little dimension, but kept the rest of the design pretty similar.

I will be linking this up with the current CASology FESTIVE challenge too, of course (*wink*)!

I am also linking this up with the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge:  Seeing Stars.

We're supposed to get our first measurable snowfall this weekend, so I made sure we're stocked with hot chocolate, marshmallows and coffee.  You know, the important things to have on hand for a snowy day!  The kids are antsy as ever!

Have a great weekend!
