Themed Thursdays: Autumn Colors

9.08.2011

Supplies:
Stamps - Verve Stamps (Better With You set)
Paper - SU Early Espresso, So Saffron, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla CS
Ink - SU Early Espresso
Accessories - SU heart punch, Jillibean polka dot ribbon, foam squares (popped up main image)

I'm going to start something new here on Thursdays.  I love themed challenges, so thought I'd start one here on my own little blog for anyone who is interested in playing along!  I'm still working out the details in my mind, so bear with me!  To start us off, this week's theme is:

*Fall Colors*

Think deep reds, oranges, yellows, purples, browns, etc!  I made a coffee card in these colors because autumn reminds me of hot drinks and coffee shop conversations!  If you want to play along, link up your creation below and then go leave some comments on other participants' blogs as they bravely add their own links here!  Have fun!  Oh, and ANY creative project is acceptable (stamp, sew, knit, photography, crochet, paint, etc.)!  Just use fall colors and link up below by next Thursday!  :)

*If you are a member of the Splitcoast Stampers Community, tag your creation with the keyword: THT1 so it is easy to find everyone's creations in one place!  Thanks!

I am also playing along with Verve Stamps' Diva Dare - Sending Some Sunshine challenge this week as I just received my very first Verve Stamps order this week and am in love with this company already!  Afterall, coffee is liquid sunshine to me and some others I know!  :

Themed Thursday: Countin' My Happies

2.10.2011

Today is one of those days when I have to keep my mind focused on positive things because the not-so-positive ones keep trying to put me in a headlock!  Oldest DS kicked his fever bug, but has developed an ear infection.  It was a rough night last night, but my DH stepped up to the job and I was able to sleep fairly well in between the youngest waking up here and there.  The middle DS was still running a 103 degree fever, so slept rather restlessly as well.  We all survived and I gave DH some extra hugs this morning for his courageous night watch!  :)

This morning, we received the news that a neighbor was killed in a freak accident at work, leaving behind a wife and three young children (5 and under).  He was only 33.  It's always so hard to know how to help or what to say, but I do think a home cooked meal will definitely be in order for them once we get this bug completely kicked out the door!

Given all the less than cheerful goings on around here, I decided it was time to make a happy kind of card!  Today's Ways to Use It Challenge (#309) over at Splitcoast Stampers is to use birthday themed things on a card.  I've been wanting to use this sentiment stamp on a card and decided today was the day!  Love it!  The little car stamp I've had a while too and had purchased it to use for one of my son's birthdays.

Supplies:
Stamps - PrintWorks Collection (sentiment), Stampendous (little car)
Ink - SU Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight
Paper - SU Sunny Garden DP, SU Cajun Craze, Not Quite Navy, Daffodil Delight CS
Accessoris - SU circle tags, gemstones (headlights), Cuttlebug embossing folder

Themed Thursday: Valentine

2.03.2011

School has been cancelled again today!  It's so cold outside!  Brr!  We were out briefly this morning, taking dear husband to work and we could hear the snow crunching beneath the tires in protest!  I'm sure it's going to feel cold when I run into the post office later this morning, the freeze your nose hairs kind of cold!

This morning, the little one is napping nicely and the older two are playing well, so I'm eeking in a little creative time while all is calm!  I'm in Valentine's Day mode now.  Afterall, it's less than two weeks away!  I haven't played with any of my Magnolia stamps yet this week, so I chose to color a sweet little Tilda image.  This week's Ways to Use It Challenge (#308) over at Splitcoast Stampers is to use hearts!  I also tried to play along with yesterday's Sketch Challenge (#318) and discovered the Just Magnolia Challenge for this past week is to use dots!  Then, I found the 7 Kids College Fund Challenge this week is to use hearts also!  Wow!  Four challenges in one card!  Hooray!  :)

Supplies:
Stamps - Magnolia (Tilda), Inky Antics (sentiment)
Paper - SU Poppy Parade & Basic Gray cardstocks, SU Sunny Garden DP, Paper Trey white cardstock
Ink - SU Basic Gray (sentiment), Poppy Parade (sponging around main image)
Coloring - Copic markers (Hair: E33, E99, YR21/Skin: E00, E000, E11, R20/Clothing: C1, C3, C5/Hearts: R02, R05, R08)
Accessories - silver brads, Heart Nestabilities, SU Eyelet Border punch & Word Window punch, Cuttlebug embossing folder

I can't wait for Valentine's Day!!

Themed Thursday: Birthday

1.20.2011

I needed to make a birthday card for the youngest child of some friends of ours.  She's turning two next week.  This image reminds me of her a lot!  I designed this card for this week's Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers.

Supplies:
Stamps:  Bildmalarma, Paper Trey (sentiment)
Ink:  SU Poppy Parade, Basic Black
Coloring:  Copic markers
Paper:  Paper Trey white, Kraft, SU Poppy Parade, SU Sunny Garden DSP
Accessories:  Cuttlebug embossing, paper piercer, SU word window punch, Hero Arts gemstone, foam squares

Themed Thursdays: Snow!

12.16.2010

I'm beginning to get the feeling that this winter is going to be one with an abundance of fluffy white stuff.  We've had snow storms the last two weekends and between last night and today we got almost five more inches!  I see there is a chance of snow Monday.  We might as well settle ourselves in for a good ole howling winter!  I'm game.  That is, as long as I and my loved ones don't have to be out driving during the snow's arrival.  I love watching a good snow storm from the cozy indoors!  I don't even mind shoveling, if needed!

Anyway, I couldn't get snow off the brain today, so had to make a card in honor of it.

Supplies
Stamps:   Penny Black
Ink:  SU Basic Black
Cardstock:  SU Basic Gray, Riding Hood Red, Paper Trey White
Paper:  Echo Park (Wintertime)
Accessories:  Martha Stewart Layered Snowflake Stickers, Martha Stewart snowman & snowflake border punches, SU Basic Gray ribbon, gemstones, SU Dazzling Diamonds glitter

The glitter doesn't show up exceptionally well in the picture, but I placed little dots of glitter sweeping down toward the snowflake.

I hope you're having a happy winter so far!  Isn't it exciting?!  :)
