Surprise Bridal Shower for Ren-Yi!

8.18.2014

Today there is a surprise bridal shower going on over on the Uniko Studio's blog for one of their design team members! Ren-Yi is getting married this week and Bev thought it would be fun to throw a little shower for her! What fun!

I wanted to do something with chevrons, so pulled out some mini Heidi Swapp stencils & sprays (gold & teal) I have in my stash to create this card:

I combined Uniko Studio's All Occasions Sentiments #5 and A Gift for You sets to create this design.  The main panel was die cut using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Journaling Card die.

If you have some time, it would be great if you could join in the bridal shower fun!  Bev is leaving the linky open for two weeks to give everyone plenty of time!  I'm also joining in the current Special Occasions challenge over on the Uniko Studio blog!

I'm having fun doing all things zebra today.  It is DS3's birthday and his imaginary zebra is joining in the festivities too!  He's the first child to have an imaginary friend and it's a lot of fun to see what he comes up with sometimes!  This boy has a lovely sense of humor and provides our family with lots of laughter!

Have a wonderful Monday!

Elmer & Pearl

3.15.2013

Once upon a time, there were two creative individuals named Elmer and Pearl.  Being hidden away in two very unseen nooks, they'd never met before.  At least, not in their current world.  Things changed one cold, dark night, however.  The winds of creativity blew and before they knew it, they found themselves mixed up in a sticky, but beautiful relationship.

Supplies:  Verve die cut (letter U), SU heart punch,
Pearl Ex powders, Elmer's school glue, Smooch spray (clear),
Sizzix embossing folder (chevron),
foam dots

Challenges entered:  Moxie Fab Chevron Challenge, SCS Clean & Simple Challenge

Have a fantastic Friday!

I {Heart} Chevron

7.03.2012

I don't know what has come over me this summer, but I think I'm totally infatuated with chevron!  I don't usually get too taken up with fads, but the chevron bug has bitten me hard!  Everywhere I look, I see it...and love it!  Hmm...why haven't I created a Pinterest folder for it yet?!

Today's birthday card is chevron inspired and I designed it for this week's Clean & Simple challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers.  We were to use navy, olive and white.

The chevron pattern (Hero Arts) is stamped in SU's Night of Navy and the sentiment (Paper Trey) is stamped in Old Olive.  The ribbon is a retired one from Stampin' Up.  A quick card, but that's exactly what I need in the middle of summer!

I hope your week is off to a good start!  Tomorrow is the 4th of July here in the USA, so we're gearing up for a day of family fun!

Happy Anniversary

6.26.2012

Today is my parents' wedding anniversary.  Forty-two years, to be exact!  In honor of the occasion, I put together a card for them using a neutral color (SU's River Rock) for the base that I don't choose very often.  I grabbed it again after using it for Dynamic Duos' current color challenge.  I decided I should practice using it because it really is a nice color!

Colors:  SU's Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist, River Rock, white
I wanted to create a zig zag (a.k.a. chevron) stripe to go along with the heart. Since I didn't have an actual chevron stripe die, I cut two strips of cardstock using the Pinking Border Die from The Cat's Pajamas and staggered them back to back.

Have yourself a great Tuesday!
